How can I stop the chrome ashtray bridge cover on my telecaster from rattling and wobbling around?
It's a 1950's model Fender Tele, with a chrome ashtray bridge cover. The bridge cover doesn't seem to fit on very snugly and rattles a bit when I'm playing, and feels like it might fall off.
The bridge cover is meant to clip on above the treble pick-up and fit snugly but due to the age of the guitar the fittings may have worn loose over the years. I have a 1960's Telecaster and the bridge cover just snaps on. Mind you I never performed with it on and, like most lead guitarists, found it cumbersome and uncomfortable. Also it stops you damping the strings. If you need to have it adjusted I would find the nearest Fender Dealer and let them do it. You don't want to risk damaging such a valuable instrument by 'home repairs'.
