How can I connect a 4/0 cable to a new end lug?
I know you're supposed to use one of those really expensive crimpers but I am not going to spend a million dollars for a one time deal. Can you get it done at some store or can I solder it or what? It's for a starter on my truck if you need to know that. Thanks, only answer if you really know. Please dont bs me just to get a couple of stupid points. Thank you
I have used many diff options for crimping large cable/lugs
A big pair of bolt cutters that was too dull to cut butter lol, worked great
A wide, flat, blunt tip punch, and a 2 lb hammer
Used a std pair of wire crimpers once. Speaded wide and clamped into my vise, put cable and lug into place and tightened the vise up on the handles of the crimpers untill my crimp was made.
On that one I also drilled a couple small holes in lug before crimping, and stripped wire alittle long. Once it was crimped, I added 60/40 rosin core solder (all I had on hand) through the 2 holes and around the bottom of lug and wire where I had stripped alittle more off wire than needed
