Guitar potentiometer resistance for single humbucker guitar?
What resistance of potentiometer should i use to wire a single humbucker with a volume and a tone knob? I am hoping to build a guitar using this setup.
Humbuckers phase out some of the higher frequencies, so people usually use 500k pots to make up for it (the 500k pot filters out less highs than a 250k, which is commonly used for single coils).
If you really want your guitar to sound wide open with all the highs, get a 1meg pot. Using a 1meg pot with a higher rated tone cap (like a .447 or higher) will give you a REALLY wide tone sweep.
I like it that way, but it's too sensitive for some people's tastes.
