Could you use Martin guitar strings for any acoustic guitar?
My guitar strings are like seven years old. I have to change them. I checked online and they mostly only have strings for the Martin brand. but can you use those strings for any other acoustic guitar? and if i use them will my guitar sound better?
It depends on the type of guitar you have and what kind of sound you are looking for. It you want a lighter sound and easier on your fingers, try using electric guitar strings (5150) because they will simulate the feel of an electric guitar(more action) but you will loose the warm sound of the Accoustic. As for getting Martin, that is just a brand you can get any Accoustic strings you want ( I prefer Ernie Ball because they tend to last longer). Make certain, that you are not replacing metal strings on a classical(nylon string) guitar, since this will totally give you a different action and sound. Your best bet is to take your guitar to a music store, and tell them what type of sound you want, (western, classical, folk, electric or even chorus). You may find out that there might be a better set out there for you.
