left handed acoustic guitar?
why is it so hard for me to find a left handed acoustic guitar at my local guitar stores...i even went to guitar center as a last resort!!!
This is one of multiple reasons I encourage new left handed players to learn the guitar right handed. To be perfectly realistic? If you are a flat picker, the whole thing is reversed anyway. On an allegedly right handed guitar it is your left hand on the fret board doing all the elaborate work and requiring dexterity.
Left handed people are the minority in the world, and the world reflects this. What hand orientation is your can opener? Tried looking for a lefty one lately?
Things are what they are, we must accept and adapt... or we will only make ourselves miserable.
Other benefits of lefties learning to play righty include playing other people's guitars. Just about every time you hang with current friends and future who play guitar? You guessed it. They will have a righty. You won't be able to play with their toys. That's neither fair nor fun.
So if you are just starting out? I seriously recommend you learn right handed. It will save you soooo much aggravation in the end, and quite frankly? What with the fingerwork on the fretboard? Your being left handed on a righty guitar will likely just be advantageous unless you plan to do a lot of fingerstyle arpeggios (rapid succession of single notes finger picked) like in classical and flamenco. Not what average people ordinarily play.
