Is there something wrong with my guitar pickups or knobs?
I have a Fender Squier Srat and I'm really no guitar genius so I'm not really sure about anything other than that. So, I've been messing with the tone knobs and well the switch, but no matter what I do it really doesn't change the sound of the guitar at all. Might it be because all three pickups are the same? (I have no idea what pickups are in it)
If you're guitar is working correctly, and you're playing fairly clean, then you should hear some differences between the settings. The more distorted you play, the less difference you'll hear.
Volume - controls the overall volume out of the guitar. It affects all pickups.
Tone 1 - rolls off the high end of the middle pickup
Tone 2 - rolls off the high end of the neck pickup
(There is no tone control on the bridge pickup).
Switch:
Position 1 (all the way down) - bridge pickup, the brightest sound
Position 2 - bridge and middle pickup out of phase
Position 3 - middle pickup
Position 4 - middle and neck pickup out of phase
Position 5 - neck pickup, the setting with the most bass
Hope this helps out.
Greetings from Austin, TX
Ken
