Bass guitar accessories help?
Ok, I have bought my first bass guitar and I have an amp, cable, bag, and strap. I play in a rock band, mostly alternative and metal.
What exactly are pedals and would I need them for the kind of sound I'm trying to achieve? Recommend me a brand?
Well you would definitely want a tone which has pretty good gain, for that you could get yourself a bass distortion pedal. BOSS is makes pedals like tanks and they last forever on the road with killer tones.
Be warned that too much gain can get pretty fuzzy though. It depends on what type your bass is. If it has active pickups, you would get less feedback. Active pickups are good for playing heavy metal, especially if your're playing really heavy stuff like Death or Black Metal..
If you have a bass meant for mostly clean tones and give lots of feedback on high gain, I suggest you get a bass more suited for Heavy Metal. ESP makes killer basses for Heavy Metal. So if you're playing a bass like a Fender then you might want to get a Noise Gate; or a bass suited for Metal
