Why can't people play guitar like Jimi Hendrix?
I don't mean for that to sound stupid. I understand that Jimi Hendrix was and will remain an icon forever, but I always hear about Professional guitarists and famous rockstars talking about him, saying they wish they could play more like him. John Mayer said that once, and whether or not you like his music, you would probably agree that John is a really good guitarist.
So what was it that Jimi had that nobody else seems to be able to reach? Was it the innovation, or was there something about his style?
Any professional guitarist will tell you that they can pick up ANY guitar and within 10 or 15 minutes they will sound just like they always do.. Hendrix could pick up one of Clapton's guitars and he would sound like Hendrix and Clapton could pick up one of Hendrix's guitars and he would sound like Clapton.
Guitarists develop their OWN style and they will sound like their self very quickly regardless of what they are playing.
