Is it better to start on an acoustic or electric guitar?
I want to learn to play a electric guitar, but would it be easier to start on acoustic or just jump straight to electric? I know it won't be cheaper, but am willing to save up. And any recommendation on a beginner guitar (electric, acoustic or both.) And good starter book, etc....
I've played for six years, and I DEFINITELY recommend starting on an acoustic. It's harder to play (you have to press down harder on the frets), but it's definitely worth it, as you play the electric much easier when you start. I played only acoustic for two years, and then switched over to mainly electric after that, and I have to say that I'm a heck of a lot better than friends who started on electric... though it might just be natural skill
.
Good luck!
