Why isn't Chrome blocking ads on google search results?
So I heard how awesome Chrome is and decided to install it then got the ad block extension but on many sites including google's search pages, i see these ads that are easily blocked by Firefox. So how do you make Chrome block these ads?
They forgot (!)
A definitive way to block ads is to redirect Google ad serving calls to your IP address (could be any other address) by adding the following lines in your HOSTS file located in %SystemRoot%System32driversetc (WINDOWS) or /etc/ (Linux):
127.0.0.1 googleads.g.doubleclick.net
127.0.0.1 pagead2.googlesyndication.com
Another way is to install any ad blocker that redirects the web traffic to a local proxy listening on the IP 127.0.0.1 and filtering know ad netwroks. Ad blockers for Google Ads are, amont others: AdSweep, Privoxy.
Regarding the extension you've installed, it's maybe a matter of time because Google started to use "googleads.g.doubleclick.net" recently for ad serving, so maybe an update or a more up-to-date blocker may fix your issue.
Hope this helps.
